Torre Eiffel


The Eiffel Tower  ( tour Eiffel , in French ), initially called the Tour de 300 mètres ("Tower of 300 meters"), is a wrought iron structure initially designed by civil engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier and built, after an aesthetic redesign by Stephen Sauvestre , by French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel and his collaborators for the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris , France. 

Located at the end of the Champ de Mars on the banks of the Seine , this Parisian monument , a symbol of France and its capital, is the tallest structure in the city and the most visited tourist monument in the world, with 7.1 million tourists each year. Standing 300 meters tall, later extended to 324 meters with an antenna, the Eiffel Tower was the tallest structure in the world for forty-one years. ] It is the most visited paid monument in the world. 

It was built in two years, two months, and five days, and at the time generated some controversy among artists of the era, who saw it as an iron "monster . " ] After its function as part of the Universal Expositions of 1889 and 1900, it was used by the French army for communication antenna tests,  and today, in addition to being a tourist attraction, it serves as a transmitter for radio and television programs .  On March 15, 2022, the radio antenna was replaced with the help of a helicopter, increasing its total height from 324 to 330 m.
